Assignment 4: Exercise 1: Matching Colours

For this exercise the task was to find Pantone colour matches for a colour within three of our own images. I used https://www.printkick.com/tools/image-colour-match. This was the second link that came up in the search results. The first was a link to a Pantone-matching app.

Printkick had a simple three step method to match colours. First, to upload an image, then to click on a colour within it, then to view the results. It’s possible to select more than one colour for matching, however this task only wanted one match.

Here is what I received.

I was unsure what happened to my uploaded images in terms of whether the site retains them, so I just used images I don’t mind sharing. If I was to do this more often I would check the privacy/copyright status or potentially use the app on the previous link.

It was easy to obtain the colour matches, there were no challenges. I guess the next step would be to select one of the colour matches out of the five suggestions, which shouldn’t pose any problems as the image is right there above the swatches so it can easily be done by eye.
